The Environmental Protection Agency has rated the fuel economy equivalency of the 2013 Honda Fit EV. The all-new electric car will get 132/105/118 mpg-e city/highway/combined, making it the most efficient small electric car in its class.Mpg-e (miles per gallon-equivalent) is how fuel economy is calculated for electric cars. Since electric cars use no gas, their energy consumption is displayed as a comparison to a conventional gas-powered car. In real-world driving, the Fit EV can travel up to 82 miles before it needs a chargeThe Fit EV has a 20-kWh lithium-ion battery and a 92-kilowatt electric motor.Honda says it will cost owners about $500 to charge the Fit EV each year. The Associated Press writes that while the Fit EV’s mpg-e rating is impressive, it will take more than a decade for its low charging costs to compensate for its $37,415 price tag. That’s almost double the cost of a comparable gas-only Honda Fit Sport with navigation.
